Auxiliary Support Service

" Waiting for access to health services is a common occurrence in the Australian health care system. Extended wait times can negatively affect individual’s mental health and wellbeing and their symptoms may worsen as they wait for the care they require"
Life Nav are specialists in supporting people through mental health challenges. We are aware of how an individual’s mental health can impact those around them and in turn how their environments can challenge these individual’s wellbeing and mental health. The Life Nav Auxiliary Support Service is specifically designed to help individuals and their families prepare and sustain themselves as they wait for clinical services such as pediatricians, psychologists and specialists. We do this by assisting the family in supporting the individual.

How the Auxiliary Support Service works

You (the parent or guardian) will meet with a Personal Navigator who will help compile casenoting to assist clinicians to efficiently and appropriately diagnose and treat the individual. Life Nav Navigators help to provide context and history to your case. Your Navigator will also assist you in stabilising and managing the challenges in your family and in the individual's environment, that you face as a result of the issues you seek to address with clinical support. Life Nav helps the family support the individual. We do not directly council individuals. Life Nav understands how important it is to have some certainty in life. Which is why we have one set fee for the initial month with the option to extend your support until you receive satisfactory clinical support outcomes. Each subsequent month is also charged at a set fee.

Life Nav Personal Navigators

  • Our Personal Navigators are qualified counsellors and social workers. We consider our Navigators to be better support for individuals and their families because they address the "whole person" rather than just a diagnosis. While other professionals might focus strictly on cognitive or emotional symptoms, Life Nav Navigators are trained to identify and solve the external stressors that often trigger or worsen mental health and other issues.
  • Beyond Symptoms: We look at relationships, family life, and physical health alongside the individual's mental health and other symptoms
  • External Factors: We identify social determinants of health that may be part of the root cause of your symptoms and behaviours
  • Systemic View: We recognise how the individual's behaviour and mental health affects the people around them, often involving family members in the process
  • Resilience Building: Our goal is to build long-term coping skills and autonomy so the family can manage an individual's challenges independently whilst waiting for specialist appointments.
